Darren has been working for Hospitality Designs for almost 4 years as the Vice President of Sales. He started his career in Sales in 1997 selling ads in the “phone book”.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Darren started off in Sales excited about meeting new people, solving their business challenges, and growing their company. As the size of deals grew and grew, he moved into Sales Manager. There, he was able to help his teams grow into stronger sales people and in turn, they’ve helped him grow into a stronger manager.
As the Vice President of Sales, he spends a third of the year between client visits, trade shows, and personal travel. His primary responsibility is ensuring our clients’ needs are being met in a timely and professional manner. He accomplishes this through supporting the various teams, where he have direct and indirect input.
Directly he supports the Account Managers by providing them with the tools, process and strategic direction they need to be successful in their work. He also works with our industry partners, both Hotel Brands and key suppliers to ensure we’re aligned. Indirectly he works with his management team colleagues in providing feedback and insight on company and department challenges.
Lastly, he encourages and receives a lot of feedback from his colleagues that shapes not only daily decisions, but overall strategy.
It takes the entire team at Hospitality Designs, and within the group of companies at GR8 Companies, to ensure our customers’ success.
A little known fact about Darren is his fear of needles. To face his fear, he decided that the best way would be to give back to the community by donating blood. He was able to donate the maximum number of times in one year and overcame his fear. What’s next? Spiders.
